New Street Authors: Reading Event: April 2024

This is a good opportunity to introduce my blog readers to some of the members of New Street Authors: someone took a group photograph at a recent reading event held at the Bulls Head in Earlswood, near Solihull, in April.

The banner announces our first collection of stories, published in 2018. Standing next to the banner is left to right: Dawn Abigail; Jill Griffin; yours truly with pink hair highlighted by the heater above our heads; David Wake, co-founder (with Andy Conway) of New Street Authors; and Guy Etchells.

My blog readers are invited to visit us at newstreetauthors.com to find out the range of genres embraced by my fellow New Street Authors: most genres are represented by my talented writer friends.

In the image below, I am practising with the mic before performing my reading.

The reading event gave me an opportunity to read an extract from Reflections Through The Mist, a fact-based novel inspired by my mother’s memoir that she left for me to find after her death. Apart from my recent radio interview with Lee Benson ( the link is here ), the event at Earlswood was the first time I have read from this, my most recently published book. I chose an incident that happened to my mother on the first day that she began her war work in Birmingham.
