The Robin

A robin has recently taken up residence in our Willow-Leaved Pear tree in our front garden. It is astonishing that this tiny bird can produce such a loud and complex song, which we can even hear faintly through the double-glazed kitchen window.

I have penned a few lines in an attempt to celebrate his presence and his joyous singing.

Diminutive silhouette set against an azure sky,

Perched on the flimsiest of branches,

The robin hurls his song to his urban arena

At the breaking of the day,

Reaching our hearts with a symphony of melody

Until the falling of the light.

If you would like to listen to his song, I have inserted a short audio file below.
